A short introduction to the CMH Preparation Service

Why getting the paperwork right matters

A Case Management Hearing sets the roadmap for your whole claim. Good paperwork means the judge understands your case from the first minute; weak paperwork risks delay, confusion and missed issues.

The judge sees your case clearly

Organised, focused documents make the judge’s job easier and make sure your case is understood from the start.

It sets the tone with the other side

Sharp, focused paperwork shows you are prepared and serious, which makes it harder for the other side to push you around.

It locks the issues in early

Strong paperwork makes sure nothing important is missed, so you avoid the delays and costly mistakes that surface later.

What you get

Your Position Statement

The document that makes the judge understand your case in the first five minutes.

  • A full list of the issues in your claim and complaints
  • A trial timetable built around your case
  • Submissions on the format of the hearing and who should sit on the panel

Your completed CMH Agenda

The tribunal’s own form, completed so the hearing runs the way you need.

  • Every issue the tribunal needs to consider at the hearing
  • Cross-referenced to your Position Statement, so the judge can follow it easily

Your Draft Order

The order you want the tribunal to make — ready for the judge to work from.

  • Sets out all the directions and orders you want for your case
  • Gives the judge a ready-made order to work from, so your preferred directions are in front of them

The extras

  • An ‘on the day’ guide — what to do before, during and after the hearing, and the common mistakes to avoid
  • A CMH timeline so you always know what is happening, and why
  • The questions the tribunal will expect you to have answered — flagged in advance, so nothing catches you out
  • £100 off if you have taken the Case Management Hearings course

How it works

This service is offered under the Direct Access Scheme, so there are a few short formalities to work through first.

1
Quick paper check

Send me a few details so I can check there is no conflict of interest. I will confirm whether I can help and, if so, ask for the documents I need — then send you a fixed quote.

Response within 1–2 working days

2
Book and pay

Once you are happy, we lock in a slot and agree terms. Capacity is limited.

More than 14 days before the CMH

3
Drafting and questions

I draft your Position Statement and Agenda, asking you only short, targeted questions if I need to. You get a clean first draft.

10–12 days before the CMH

4
Your review and one tidy pass

You check the facts and we finalise the paperwork together.

Around 10 days before the CMH

5
Final pack to you

You lodge the documents with the tribunal and the other side. I give you a ready-made cover email to make that easy.

At least 7 days before the CMH

That timetable is the ideal. I can sometimes work to a tighter deadline — just ask.

Who it is for

  • You are representing yourself and want your case presented clearly at the CMH
  • Your pleadings are a bit messy and you need the issues distilled
  • You can answer short, focused questions on time

Who it is not for

  • Same-day or last-minute CMHs
  • Anyone who wants representation at the hearing itself — this is paperwork only
  • Claims in the Bristol, Exeter, Plymouth or Southampton Employment Tribunals — I sit there as a judge, so I cannot be involved in cases in those tribunals

Pricing

A fixed quote, after I have seen your papers

  • I give you a fixed quote once I have seen your documents — I do not guess before then
  • If you have taken Case Management Hearings Made Simple, you get £100 off

The fee covers one Position Statement, one CMH Agenda and one revision pass. Extra iterations, later changes of scope or urgent turnarounds are quoted separately.

Questions

Can you represent me at the CMH?

No — this is a paperwork-only service. You take the documents and lodge them yourself. If you need representation, ask and I will point you to resources.

How quickly can this be done?

The standard timetable delivers your final pack about 10 days before the CMH, so you can lodge at least 7 days before. If you are very close to the date I may have to decline, so as not to set you up to fail — but do ask.

What documents do you need?

After the paper check I will send you a short checklist of exactly what I need to assess your case.

I took your Case Management Hearings course — how do I claim my discount?

Just mention it when you enquire and I will take £100 off your quote.

What if I want to change my claim?

One revision pass is included, covering factual changes to the Position Statement. If you want to add complaints or new claims, that needs an amendment application — ask me about it.

Will you contact the tribunal or the other side for me?

No — because I am not representing you, the paperwork comes from you. To make it easy I give you a ready-made cover email to copy, adjust and send.

Ready to feel clear about your CMH?

No obligation. If I cannot take your case, I will tell you quickly.
