Do I need to sign my witness statement?

Your statement should always contain a final paragraph that states something along the lines of:

"I believe that the facts stated in this witness statement are true to the best of my knowledge and belief."

Usually, you should sign the statement and some Case Management Orders require the statement to be signed. You don't need a solicitor or notary to witness your signature, even if you're self-represented.

If, for some reason, you are unable to sign the statement, some tribunals are content to accept unsigned statements in evidence provided that, at the start of the witnesses evidence, they confirm the statement is true and accurate and that they swear or affirm that the evidence they give whilst in the witness box, is true.
