Presenting a Claim

Stage 2 of 9 · 4 topics in this stage

A blank printed form and a fountain pen on a desk

If you’ve decided to take your employer to a tribunal, this is where your claim begins — and the details matter from the very first form. A tribunal claim starts with an ET1, the form and the particulars that set out what happened and what you are complaining about. The respondent then replies with an ET3. This stage is about how a claim is presented, the strict time limits that apply, and what needs to be in the paperwork from the very start.

Important — information, not advice. This website explains how the Employment Tribunal process works in general terms. It is legal information, not legal advice, and using it does not create a barrister–client relationship. For advice on your own circumstances you should consult a qualified lawyer.
