What Happens After a Case Management Hearing?

If you're representing yourself in an Employment Tribunal claim, understanding the steps that follow a Case Management Hearing (CMH) is crucial. The CMH sets the groundwork for your case, and the subsequent actions are vital to ensure your claim progresses smoothly.

Receiving the Case Management Order

After the CMH, the tribunal will issue a written Case Management Order. This document outlines the decisions made during the hearing, including deadlines for submitting documents, exchanging witness statements, and other preparatory steps. It's essential to read this order carefully and adhere to all specified timelines

Preparing for Future Hearings

With the directions from the Case Management Order, you'll need to:

 Disclose Relevant Documents:Share all documents pertinent to your case with the respondent.
 Exchange Witness Statements:Prepare and exchange written statements from any witnesses you plan to call.
 Compile the Hearing Bundle:Work with the respondent to assemble a bundle of documents that will be referred to during the final hearing.

Adhering to these steps ensures that both parties are adequately prepared for the final hearing.

Monitoring Deadlines

It's your responsibility to keep track of all deadlines specified in the Case Management Order.Missing a deadline can have serious consequences, including the possibility of your claim being struck out.If you anticipate any difficulties in meeting a deadline, inform the tribunal as soon as possible and request an extension.
